Album 365: Day 25 - Yes - 90125

Yes
90125
1983

Favorite tracks: Owner of A Lonely Heart, It Can Happen, Changes
Sleeper tracks: Hold On, Our Song

(Didn't post this yesterday because I was celebrating my birthday with friends.  I listened to this during the day, as I did yard work).

My appreciation for this album started with my aunt Lisa playing it for me.  She had an important part in my musical direction and I'm glad this album came out when it did.

This album is one of my favorites to come out of the 80s.  Trevor Rabin coming into the band, Jon Anderson and Tony Kaye coming back into the band...it was a perfect storm for great songwriting.  The guitar work is awesome and I would say Trevor's lead playing is better than Steve Howe's.  His vocals added a new texture to Yes as well.  Alan White has been my 2nd favorite Yes drummer but this record was a great display of his prog chops (on a relatively pop/mainstream album).

It's strange.  I've lived in Minneapolis for almost 13 years and I haven't met a person who is as much a Yes fan as I am. The biggest Yes fans I know, I knew from back home.  I get it, the Yes sound isn't for everybody; but I always thought there would be more musicians that liked them.
