John Prine
Bruised Orange
1978
Favorite tracks: There She Goes, Sabu Visits the Twin Cities Alone, Crooked Piece of Time
Sleeper tracks: Iron Ore Betty, The Hobo Song
The only folk album you'll find in my collection.
This album holds a special place in my heart. My parents owned it and I played the record a lot for a few years. There was something about John's voice that was easy to listen to. He told great stories that even a 4 and 5 year old could understand (while totally missing the puns meant for 'adults'). The music is catchy, the songs aren't long and there's a lot of stuff going on in each cut. I don't get bored listening to this record. I could probably play it through 3 or 4 times in one sitting, I enjoy it that much. It will always remind me of my childhood and how good things were.
