The Rolling Stone
Tattoo You
1981
Favorite tracks: Start Me Up, Hang Fire, Slave
Sleeper tracks: Neighbours, Worried About You
I first listened to this record while sifting through my aunt Sue's record collection. The first 4 songs are really killer Stones tunes. "Slave" has some of the best sounding drums on any Rolling Stones album. The songs were essentially a compilation of stuff from different years. They wanted to get an album out for the upcoming tour. The album is a half rock/half ballad layout and it doesn't really flow like a regular album. As much as I hear "Start Me Up" on NFL broadcasts, I still think it's one of the best Stones tunes.
Sax by Sonny Rollins, keyboards by Billy Preston, backup vox by Pete Townshend.
