This album was the start of the 80's era Rush. That is the era that most music fans tend to ignore when it comes to their appreciation of the band.
I was late to the party on this record. It didn't appeal to me when I first heard it. I liked "Distant Early Warning" and absolutely hated "Red Sector A". Throughout middle school and hight school, I would have voted this the worst Rush album. Now, I think the record is pretty great. Neil's lyric writing started to be more concise and thoughtful...less proggy.
