Rush
Caress of Steel
1975
Favorite tracks: Bastille Day, The Necromancer, The Fountain of Lamneth
Sleeper tracks: Panacea (Part IV of The Fountain of Lamneth)
This album gets chastised a lot. It's not my favorite Rush album but I hold it in a higher regard than most people, certainly higher than almost all critics.
I think I got this album around 1990. I knew of the record from listening to it at my aunt Cheryl's boyfriend's house. The 2nd dose of the songs from this record came from when my aunt Lisa gave me a cassette of 'All the World's A Stage'.
Bastille Day is a really wonderful song. Neil's drumming take a step up from Fly By Night. The chorus guitar riff in "Bacchus Plateau" is one of the coolest Alex riffs ever.
Something to think about: They went from this album to "2112" in a matter of 7 months and recorded 3 albums in the span of 13 months.
